Organic Cotton Cloth Pads vs Bamboo Charcoal Eco Pads: Which Suits You?
Comparing organic cotton cloth pads with our bamboo charcoal Eco Pads? You're not alone. We make two separate cloth pad ranges, and each one does a slightly different job. Good news: both are reusable choices. The difference comes down to feel, absorbency and how you like to manage your flow, not one being better.
Bamboo charcoal Eco Pads: the StayDry topper
Our Eco Pads all have a bamboo charcoal StayDry topper. It wicks moisture away from the surface, so it feels drier when you wear it. Eco Pads are our most absorbent cloth pads, and the size you choose sets how much they hold:
- Liners (20cm) hold up to 15ml for light days, spotting or backup.
- Regular pads (25cm) hold up to 30ml for daytime flow.
- Overnight pads (33cm) hold up to 50ml for heavy days and nights.
Eco Pads come in mixed prints, and every pack comes with a wet bag. Browse them all in our Eco Pad Packs, including the Eco Liner Pack ($54), Eco Pad Regular Pack ($59) and Eco Pad Overnight Pack ($62).
Organic cotton cloth pads: the natural fabric option
Our organic cotton cloth pads are a separate range, made in a lighter, natural fabric. They're purer through the middle layers too. They still have a TPU backing to stop leaks, but it's lined in cotton. So the outside has a soft cotton feel, rather than the shiny plastic feel of a nappy shell. The inner fabric is super breathable and natural.
They come in three sizes and five colours: bottle green, coral, light pink, lemon and natural.
- Ultra Thin Organic Cotton Liners, 18cm (3-pack $35), holding about 5ml
- Organic Cotton Cloth Pads, Regular 24cm (3-pack $44, 5-pack $63), holding about 15ml
- Organic Cotton Cloth Pads, Large 28cm (3-pack $50), holding about 20ml
Each pack comes with a wet bag. Keep in mind they hold less than our Eco Pads, so they suit lighter to moderate days best.
Great for tracking your flow
The lighter cotton fabric shows your flow clearly, which makes these pads ideal if you like to track your cycle. The trade-off is that blood marks are harder to get out, even when you rinse thoroughly and wash in cold. A bar of tallow soap or Sunlight soap rubbed into the mark before washing can help lift it.
How to choose
Ask yourself a few honest questions:
- Love natural fabric, or want to see your flow? The organic cotton cloth pads are the best choice.
- Want the most absorbency, or a drier feel overnight and on heavy days? Bamboo charcoal Eco Pads are made for that.
- Not sure yet? Our Eco Pad & Liner Pack ($56) gives you two regular pads, three liners and a wet bag, so you can try Eco Pads across a cycle before building your set.
You don't have to pick just one
Plenty of our customers use both. They choose organic cotton for lighter days and tracking, and bamboo charcoal Eco Pads for heavier days or overnight. Your collection doesn't need to match, and mixing ranges lets you build a set that suits how your cycle changes across the month.
A quick word on care
Both ranges are made to be washed and reused for years. Here's all they need:
- Rinse cold straight after use.
- Machine wash up to 40°C.
- Skip fabric softener and bleach, as softener can coat fibres and reduce absorbency.
- Line dry, with no tumble dryer.
For the organic cotton range, rub tallow soap or Sunlight soap into any marks before you wash.

The bottom line
You can't make a wrong choice here. Both ranges give you a reliable, reusable alternative to single-use pads. Choose Eco Pads for absorbency and a drier feel, and organic cotton for a light, natural fabric that shows your flow. Still torn? Start with one pack of each, wear them for a cycle, and see what feels right. Find your perfect cloth pad.
